Indiana Jones to Replace Dinosaur at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom

An Exciting New Adventure to Lead Tropical America Land

Disney World’s Animal Kingdom theme park is getting ready for an exciting new journey. The venerable Dinosaur attraction will vanish, giving way to the opening of a brand-new Indiana Jones ride in 2027.

Ke Huy Quan Shares the Adventure with You

At Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, a surprising announcement was made. Ke Huy Quan, who portrayed Short Round in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” was the one who took the stage to reveal the thrilling news.

An Upcoming Tale in Development

Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences, has revealed that the 26-year-old Dinosaur ride will close to make room for this thrilling new Indiana Jones experience. This new attraction will serve as the focal point of Animal Kingdom’s proposed Tropical Americas region, which would take the place of DinoLand U.S.A.

This will be the fourth Indiana Jones-themed ride in Disney parks across the world, according to Bruce Vaughn, head of Imagineering at Disney. It will have a “wholly new story,” unlike any other Indy attraction. Alongside the adventurous archaeologist as he investigates a preserved Mayan temple that is home to a mythological creature—and possibly snakes—the ride will take passengers on an adventure.

Encanto Accompanying the Journey

Disney’s first Encanto-themed attraction, which invites visitors to voyage through the enchanted Casita, will also be located in the Tropical Americas section. Antonio’s room turns into a vivid rainforest, and his ability to communicate with animals will lead guests through it.

Dinosaurs to Deities and Back

Since the park’s opening in 1998, Animal Kingdom has had the Dinosaur attraction as a mainstay. It was originally called Countdown to Extinction, but Disney’s animated picture Dinosaur inspired the new name.

Joining the ranks of other Indiana Jones attractions at Disney parks worldwide, such as Disneyland’s Indiana Jones Adventure, Tokyo DisneySea’s version, Disneyland Paris’ Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril roller coaster, and Disney World’s Hollywood Studios’ Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! live show, the new Indiana Jones ride will be a significant addition to the park’s lineup.

Plans for Growth

D’Amaro told fans that the new additions would fit in well with Animal Kingdom’s key themes of wildlife and conservation when he previously alluded to plans to increase Indiana Jones’ presence at Disney World. He said, “Animal Kingdom is about exploration and adventure,” stressing that fresh tales may be presented without sacrificing the core of the park.

Disney World’s Animal Kingdom is set for an exciting makeover with the closing of Dinosaur and the arrival of two intriguing new attractions. The fans can’t wait to go on these new adventures, and the countdown to 2027 has started.
